The kesternicht test: how well is your material resistant to acid rain and industrial climate?

The kesternae test quickly reveals your product’s resistance to industrial climate and/or acid rain. Within a few weeks, this test simulates effects that in practice do not occur for years.

Hoe werkt een kesternichtest?

The parts to be tested are placed in a 300-liter climate chamber. Then, depending on the chosen method, they are exposed to hot and humid air with a specific concentration of sulfur dioxide (AHT 1.0 S with 0.33% volume SO2 or AHT 2.0 S with 0.67% volume SO2).

The test is performed in cycles of 24 hours each. Each cycle in the kesternian test is divided into two phases:

  • Phase 1: Addition of SO2 followed by 8 hours of 40°C ± 3°C (relative humidity 100%);
  • Phase 2: 16 hours ventilation and cooling to 18 to 28 ° C (relative humidity max. 75%).

The test is complete when the number of prescribed cycles is reached.

Reporting and advice

You will receive a report with the results within five working days of completing the kesterney test. After reading the report, you may still need advice on how to improve the quality of the product.
